Dark Ambient, somewhere between Lycia and Raison d´Être.
Nothing has been addressed as a hybrid between Lycia and
Raison d'Être, a definition which, in itself, says quite enough
if you're a fan of those bands. The American duo merge a healthy dose
of Industrial textures with the more ethereal elements provided by monumental
keyboard and piano incursions, often with a romantic flavor to them, and
whispered mysterious male vocals that turn out quite similar to those
of Lycia. The way that the softer and more atmospheric Darkwave/Goth
elements combine with the harsher tones and intimidating Industrial material
proves to be highly original and innovative, especially when they get
around to fusing both together. Occasionally, Nothing can also
delve further deep into a more mechanical and colder world, allowing the
Industrial features in their material to take over completely. Somehow,
the Swedish Sanctum also come to mind (as well as a few other Cold
Meat Industry representatives like Memorandum, Mental Destruction
or ConSono when Nothing decide to go in that direction),
given the combination between melody and distortion and the dynamics that
Nothing provide. Percussions pop up on occasion, and add a somewhat
tribal edge to things as well. This may appeal to a vast scope of fans,
ranging from those into Industrial music, to Ambient to Darkwave. It is
the combination of it all that makes it so unique, though.
