A superb combination between technological artifacts and melodic song writing, augmented by spellbinding female vocals, somewhere between The Gathering, Cocteau Twins and Dead Can Dance.
A superb combination between technological artefacts and melodic
song writing, augmented by spellbinding female vocals.
Aenima's debut, "Revolutions", caused quite an impression
on both press and fans, who were unanimous in their praise
when it came to live shows as well. The band have been compared in the past
to the likes of Cocteau Twins, The Gathering, The
Third and the Mortal, Faith and the Muse or Dead Can
Dance, and now "Never Fragile" brings forth a sharper
side of Aenima, properly seasoned after outstanding live appearances
in notorious international festivals such as the M'era Luna Festival,
in Germany. Although they have hardly dropped the ethereal moods of
their debut album, Aenima have improved their recipe which
bridges the gap between a clever use of technological artefacts and
conventional rock compositions with a skilled use of melody, groove
and ambience.
"Forlorn" opens in a mournful, dirge-like manner,
and gradually climbs to its zenith, with the female vocals voice rising
from lament to crystal clear soprano tones. Drums and bass provide
an escort in her grievous march, clad with a veil of twinkling guitars
and subtle keyboard undertones, as opposed to the heavier posture
found in "At the Edge of a Cliff" with its hard,
distorted, guitars.
"The Light", perhaps the disc's most easily memorable
track, has been used as the closing track for the band's set at the
M'era Luna performances and shows Aenima's brighter face, with
an approach that seems to draw some Pop sensitivities to their dark
rock, which acquires a more introspective and melancholic tone again
for "Lilith".
Last but not least, "Rapture"
begins in a rather celestial mood, and leads Aenima through
a slightly more synthetic path to close up "Never Fragile".
This CDEP comes in full colour colour digipak, with varnished cover.
A bombastic yet soothing Neo-Classical masterpiece, crowned by the beautiful voice of Annmari Thim (of Arcana), narrating tales sprung out of religious texts and beliefs over a lush cinematic background. Digipak CD, complete with a 12-page booklet.
Equilibrium Music proudly welcomes Angelic Foe, a project by Annmari Thim, the Swedish singer, composer and lyricist also known for her work with Arcana (as their lead-singer from 2001 to 2014), as well as several guest appearances in numerous other projects.
“Mother of Abominations”, Angelic Foe’s second album, follows the critically acclaimed debut “Oppressed by the Heavens”, released on Prikosnovénie in 2012. Written by Annmari and video games sound designer Samuel Lidström, the final mixing and mastering for “Mother of Abominations” has been handled by Peter Bjärgo (Arcana, Sophia) and is now finally presented in a gorgeous Digipak CD, complete with a 12-page booklet.
The album’s nine tracks fabricate a dramatic and melodious invitation to worlds of mysticism, haunted by otherworldly creatures. Angelic Foe’s new creation evidently bears a dimmer mood when compared to its predecessor, as the acoustic instrumentation prominent on the debut album gives way to a heavier and deeper symphonic canvas, largely based on rich orchestral arrangements, broad choral textures and vibrant percussion.
This bombastic yet soothing Neo-Classical masterpiece is ultimately crowned by the beautiful voice of Annmari, which drifts from a soft and forgiving allure into a strong commanding tone as it narrates tales sprung out of religious texts and beliefs over the lush cinematic background. Let “Mother of Abominations” lead you on this enticing passage to the unearthly!

"Standards of Triumph" 12" Gatefold LP 2006, Equilibrium Music
sold out
Tapping further into the darker tones of Militaristic Neo-Classical ambiance, Arditi present their strongest effort so far, with their ever effective use of crushing orchestrations and evocative speeches. Heavy vinyl, lim.500 copies, w/A2 poster.
Spearheaded by H. Möller and M. Björkman, Arditi's first recordings came to light in 1997, inspired by the Italian Futurist Movement of the early 20th century.
Given both members' involvement in other projects (such as Puissance or Algaion), it was not until 2002 that the first Arditi output would come to be released - the limited edition 7" EP "Unity of Blood" (Svartvintras Productions, 2002) earned the project excellent criticism which served as motivation for the preparation of a few other efforts put out during the following years, among which their debut album, "Marching On To Victory" (Svartvintras Productions, 2003), the split CD "United in Blood" (Neuropa, 2004), shared with the Swedish Toroidh, and most recently "Spirit of Sacrifice" (Blooddawn, 2005).
The project's recent alliance with Equilibrium Music resulted in the release of the daunting appetizer 7" EP, wherein Arditi presented two brand new and exclusive tracks in a limited edition of 500 copies, and paved the way for the "Standards of Triumph", a new full-length opus now available in both Digipak CD and limited edition heavy vinyl via Equilibrium Music.
Boasting the unique personality of this Swedish combo, "Standards of Triumph" taps further into the darker tones of Militaristic Neo-Classical ambiance that has become the band's trademark, resulting in their strongest effort so far - ever effective in their use of crushing orchestrations and evocative speeches, Arditi hereby drags the listener around muddy trenches, leaving aside overly pompous festive marches or alcohol fueled merry bunker songs which seem to have become the norm as of late, and casting an hypnotizing veil over the turmoil of warfare-inspired Industrial soundscapes.
Also released in Digipak CD. Both formats are also available in Boxset edition (lim. 100 copies).

"Marching on to Victory" Digipak CD 2007, Equilibrium Music
Originally released in a 1000 copies limited edition in 2003, this was Arditi's first full-length album, now made available again with 2 extra tracks in deluxe Digipak.
The original release of "Marching on to Victory" dates back to 2003,
with a small pressing of 1000 copies on the obscure Swedish label Svartvintras.
The legacy that one half of the project brought from his work with Puissance
was fairly evident, yet the focus on his work as Arditi was not so much
beautifuly orchestrated narrations of the apocalypse, but far grimmer depictions
of the past centuries world conflicts. Field recordings and blurry speeches were
incorporated into Arditi's compositions, adding a rather disturbing tone
to the predominant military snare-drums, obscure symphonic arrangements and hypnotic
soundscapes. The suffocating combination between martial classical arrangements
and somber atmospheres would set Arditi's debut album as one of the bleakest
releases on the Militaristic Neo-Classical movement that was starting to flourish
at the time. "Marching on to Victory" is now made available again, in
a deluxe Digipak release featuring 2 bonus tracks.

“Omne Ensis Impera” introduces an additional strength to Arditi’s compositions - epic orchestral loops and thunderous percussions are granted a more prominent role, stirring the damp and suffocating ambiance that the duo have always produced so well.
"We sing the praise of war. Not for
the way it makes people die, but for the way it makes people come alive."
The highly anticipated new album by the Swedish duo is finally upon
us, under the title "Omne Ensis Impera". The sense
of determination that echoes through their music and which has brought
them to the forefront of Martial / Industrial Neo-Classical scene has
stayed untouched, evoking the sense of duty and commitment that Italy's
WWI elite storm troops, from which the name Arditi originated,
were known for.
"Omne Ensis Impera" introduces an additional strength
to Arditi's compositions - epic orchestral loops and thunderous
percussions are granted a more prominent role, stirring the damp and
suffocating ambiance that the duo have always produced so well with
their use of ominous synths, obscure speeches and mesmerizing narrations.
Similarly, shades of the Italian Futuristic movement of the early XXth
century, which served as inspiration in the early days of the project,
remain imprinted in Arditi's work - "Omne Ensis Impera"
could well be a modern interpretation of the Futurist's goal of glorifying
warfare to an artistic expression beyond its inherent violence and intrinsic
sense of heroism.
"Omne Ensis Impera" has been mastered by Kamrat Nordvargr
of Mz.412 and Toroidh, an old ally of the band. Nordvargr
has also contributed with additional arrangements on a couple of tracks,
and prepared a slightly modified track list, which will feature on the
vinyl version of the album that will follow soon, together with a limited
edition box set. The CD version is presented in a deluxe glossy Digipak,
with embossed artwork.

"Statues of Gods / Invictis Victi Victuri - Black Vinyl" 10" EP 2009, Equilibrium Music
sold out
Split release featuring 3 unreleased tracks by each band, which serves not only to present new material by Arditi but also to introduce German Neo-Classical / Martial Industrial newcomers Signa Inferre. Limited 300 copies, in black vinyl.
A limited edition split release, featuring 3 unreleased and exclusive tracks by
each band, which serves not only to present new material by Arditi but
also to introduce German newcomers Signa Inferre, the finest offspring
in the latest crop of Neo-Classical / Martial Industrial music.
For "Statues of Gods", Arditi tap into ancient Nordic
traditions and incorporate them in their militaristic anthems. The characteristically
oppressive soundscapes, pounding percussions and powerful orchestrations are represented
in new shades, as elements of Nordic folk music shape Arditi's pieces into
slow-motion medieval dances and ceremonial tributes to times past. The 3 tracks
on this release should not be considered an indication for the direction that
the new album will follow, however, and have been gathered here exactly due to
the fact that they would not really fit a typical Arditi release.
"Invictis Victi Victuri" is the first release by Signa Inferre.
Although the project has only recently surfaced, the maturity displayed in their
pieces should quickly earn them a favorable position in the Neo-Classical / Martial
Industrial scene. Leaving behind the typical insipid blending of samples lifted
from Classical music recordings and looped ad nauseam, Signa Inferre's
work develops in fluid and continuous progression, giving birth to fully accomplished
epic scores brimming with martial beauty. This is only a small taste of what's
to come, as Signa Inferre prepare their full length debut for Equilibrium
Music, due in early 2010.
Black vinyl, with silver on black cover. Limited to 300 copies.

Much like an alchemic transmutation of lead into gold, Àrnica’s new offering shapes Ur-Folk into Ritual music, distilled under the scorching sun of Iberia. Gold-colored CD on spot-varnished Digipak.
A Wolf’s head shape is tearing apart the mist. Howlings in the distance bring silence to an end, the throbbing of blood now resounding in wardrums.
For well over 10 years, Àrnica have been patiently carving their niche in the Neo-Folk scene. The genre's free form aesthetics have served as a perfect starting ground, yet were quickly subdued by Àrnica's own vision as they delved into Iberian lore and tradition to find both a wealth of musical references and the spiritual elements that would shape them into a unique entity.
Well acquainted with the Post-Industrial school of experimentation and sound manipulation, Àrnica were quick to make good use of its tools and techniques. Loops, samples and field-recordings merge seamlessly into traditional acoustic instrumentation, adding fine details and rural textures to their vivid portrayal of a world forgotten. This primal legacy to which Àrnica are devoted further manifests through the savage drumming, the warhorns and the battle cries, as sound ultimately transforms into a mesmerizing ritual.
Following numerous live appearances, which have brought Àrnica to share the stage with bands like Wardruna, Death In June, Blood Axis or Tyr, the band now join Equilibrium Music for their third full-lenght album, one which successfully captures the raw archaic energy of their shows into recorded form.
Much like an alchemic transmutation of lead into gold, Àrnica’s new offering shapes Ur-Folk into Ritual music, distilled under the scorching sun of Iberia to bring one of the most menacing and intense releases ever related to the genre. The album speaks of an old ruler that inspired his kin to fight back against those who sought to take their ground, back in an age forlorn where man and beast were as one. Now, more than pay mere tribute, Àrnica call upon Cabeza de Lobo to lead the Wild Men once again, in a much needed return to wilderness.
"Cabeza de Lobo" is available on CD (gold disc on spot-varnished Digipak) and vinyl (limited edition 12” + 7” set, on heavy gold-colored vinyl, featuring collaborations with Trepaneringsritualen and Apokalypse Projekt). Each version holds a different tracklist. A limited edition boxset is also available.

Ataraxia / Autunna et sa Rose (Italy)
"Odos Eis Ouranon - La Via Verso il Cielo" Digipak 2x CD 2005, Equilibrium Music
sold out
Following a very special acoustic performance that brought them together, both artists agreed to release the songs especially arranged for this unique occasion. Featuring exclusive material, this is an essential release for those into Neo-Classical music.
Autunna et sa Rose have used material from their first 3 albums, hereby interpreted on piano and cello, and featuring soprano vocals and poetic recitation. Saverio, the group's mastermind, and his companions bring to life dramatic pieces that push the typically softer tones of Neo-Classical music into a more demanding ground dominated by Contemporary Classical music. Interpretations of compositions by Ataraxia and Tuxedomoon were also part of the concert recorded in Rovigo that evening and included in this release.
Borrowing an ancient Wiepking and Co. piano, Ataraxia rearranged a collection of their finest tracks that would fit an entirely acoustic format, revisiting them in a warmer and more intimate form. This selection covers not only tracks from most of their releases, but also titles from the sold-out EPs "Orlando" and "Des Paroles Blanches", as well as two previously unreleased songs and material never before issued on CD.
"Odos Eis Ouranon - La Via Verso Il Cielo" will be released on a deluxe limited
edition double CD Digipak, complete with booklets which will include linear notes by both artists, lyrics and exclusive photography and artwork. An essential release for older fans of these two legendary Italian formations, which will also serve as a perfect introduction to
newer fans.

Original soundtrack comissioned by the National Theatre of Northern Greece. The score sees traits common to Dark Ambient or Neo-Classical discreetly introduced into Daemonia Nymphe's ethereal World Music for this aural backdrop to Shakespeare's classic.
“Fair is foul and foul is fair” Shakespeare wrote in Macbeth and amongst those words someone might read the ambiguity of human nature, as mistakes can be beautiful capturing the soul. Beautiful catastrophe can be charming and hypnotising. Like the music and sound landscape that Daemonia Nymphe created for this production. A hedonistic downfall dominates the universe of Macbeth where the isolated mountains of Scotland, the rain, the fog, the battles and the sudden storms, the moon, the howling and the screams, the witches, the trumpets and the drums become the haunting soundtrack of Macbeth. Every tune tells a different story that was hand in hand with the action and the striking images of the show. This soundtrack is a trip to the unknown and unrecognisable collective subconscious, a strange dream, a journey to the undiscovered... I would suggest you listen and you feel with all your senses.” -- Anastasia Revi
Well known for their compositions and improvisations performed with reproductions of ancient Greek instruments manufactured by Nikolaos Brass, the ethereal essence that dominates Daemonia Nymphe‘s pieces allows them to reach beyond the scope of World Music and forge their own idyllic liaison with Greece’s cultural heritage.
Given their project’s unique artistic concept, an invitation for Spyros Giasafakis and Evi Stergiou to create soundtrack work would inevitably surface. Although they had already been involved in similar projects in the past, the opportunity to compose and record a full score ultimately came to fruition with a commission from the National Theatre of Northern Greece to create an original soundtrack for their theatre production of “Macbeth”. The play was directed by Anastasia Revi and performed at the Theatre of the Society for Macedonian Studies in Thessaloniki, Greece, between 15/01/2016 and 27/03/2016.
The challenge of producing an aural backdrop to Shakespeare’s classic finds Daemonia Nymphe introducing discreet traits common to Dark Ambient or Neo-Classical in their music to more adequately portray the idiosyncrasies inherent to the play. While employing their trademark combination of traditional archaic instrumentation and dreamlike female vocals, Daemonia Nymphe also expand their palette to include brass instrumentation, orchestral percussion or Scottish bagpipes, resorting to a myriad of guest musicians for these recordings. The complete work brings together mesmerising lullabies sung in whispers and hushed voices, epic interludes driven by bombastic trumpets, battle passages paced to martial drumming, enticing dances set to exotic rhythms, or even the odd Medieval jig heard during Macbeth’s coronation. However, even while perfectly mimicking and expanding upon each of “Macbeth”’s dramatic moments, the score also successfully stands as one of Daemonia Nymphe’s most complex and mysterious albums to date.
“Macbeth” is released in beautiful full colour Digipak CD. The physical release includes two additional short pieces as bonus tracks and features original artwork by Spyridon created especially for this release.

Ethereal Neo-Classical compositions, exquisitely weaved out of acoustic guitars, violin and bass guitar, and blissfully adorned by sweet female vocals. Somewhere between Amber Asylum or B.t.f.a.b.g. and Tenhi or Empyrium...
Ethereal Neo-Classical compositions, exquisitely weaved out of acoustic guitars, violin and bass guitar, and blissfully adorned by sweet female vocals.
Names such as Black Tape For A Blue Girl, Amber Asylum or, especially for Portuguese listeners, Madredeus, and, on a slightly different tone, Empyrium and Tenhi, will come to mind now and then, but the varied background of the various members involved with Dwelling not only allows them to produce a very distinct blend, but also provides a solid launch pad for incursions into territories often neglected in the genre.
Therefore, not only will one find the sweet and blissful melancholia of opener “A Gaze of Innocence” or the sad, rather tragic tones, of “Dear Blossom”, but also a discreetly progressive, somewhat Jazzistic in tone, approach to the material which shows off more clearly on the slightly hallucinatory “Trivial Yet Profound”.
“A Dança (Tecendo o Feitiço)”, sung in their mother-tongue, sees the band feeding off slightly on their Portuguese roots, evidencing a taste of Fado in their recipe, whereas the closing instrumental “Rain” allows the musicians to engage in a healthy dwell free from Catarina’s guidance.
Last but not least, the recording process has provided a rich and clear sound, appropriately registering the elaborate string interplay provided by Nuno Roberto and Helder Dias, which, along with Jaime Ferreira’s deep bass lines, set the foundations for Sílvia Freitas’ searing violin melodies and Catarina Raposo’s warm and comforting voice.
The disc includes five tracks, finely crafted by talented and experienced musicians, which display a refreshing approach to the genre, by combining not only sweet melancholia, but also an elaborate musicianship and excellent melodies, along with remarkable female vocals. This is a fully acoustic recording - no keyboards or samplers used - and comes in exquisitely packaged full colour digipak. The band will be opening for Ataraxia in Lisbon, on the 31st October 2001 (Please consult the news page for additional info on this event).
Special offer: two albums by this Portuguese band at a special price! Ethereal Neo-Classical compositions, inspired by the essence of Portuguese Fado, brought to life by acoustic string instruments and voice. Both in beautiful full colour digipaks.

Hexperos (Italy)
"The Garden of the Hesperides" Digipak CD 2007, Equilibrium Music
13.00EUR approx. 18.9USD [ temp. out of stock ] : [ pre-order ]
Debut album by Hexperos, a new project by soprano Alessandra Santovito, founding member of Gothica. Dark Neo-Classical chamber music, which easily deserves a place alongside the best works from acts such as Arcana, Ophelia’s Dream or Sopor Aeternus.
"The Garden of the Hesperides" is the debut album by Hexperos, the new Gothic/Neo-Classical project by the soprano Alessandra Santovito, founding member of Gothica.
The exotic Mediterranean fragrance of sensual percussion patterns, together with the low rumble of Francesco's double bass and the soft keyboard pads enriched by the work of violinists Domenico Mancini and Alessandro Pensa, set the appropriate nocturnal atmosphere for Alessandra's soaring voice to cast its spell - although Hexperos often brings to mind her past in Gothica, it is also obvious that her work has now reached a more mature stage.
Instrumentation and arrangements are often minimal throughout the songs, but skillfully mastered to balance grandiose dramatic moments against delicate passages, sparsely colored with a discreet Celtic tone that finds its way into some of tracks much through the contribution of harpist Francesca Romana Di Nicola.
This seemingly ethereal touch is nevertheless ineffective in dispelling the predominantly somber quality of the album. In fact, much of the mood that "The Garden of the Hesperides" evokes can be compared to what one may find in Classical chamber music, yet it has been quite a few years since such ambiance has been so impressively comprised into a Gothic Neo-Classical album, and so perfectly used to display such mysterious sensuality and romance. A remarkable debut, which easily deserves a place alongside the best works from acts such as Arcana, Ophelia's Dream or Sopor Aeternus. Presented in spot UV-varnished Digipak.

Hexperos (Italy)
"The Veil of Queen Mab" Digipak CD 2010, Equilibrium Music
In this partially conceptual work, Hexperos once again combine classical and contemporary approaches to chamber music, incorporating Celtic, Mediterranean, Medieval and Baroque elements in a meticulously crafted and varied opus.
Following their debut “The Garden of the Hesperides”,
successfully welcomed by fans and press alike, Hexperos return
with "The Veil of Queen Mab", whose title is inspired
by Nicaraguan writer and poet Rubén Darío. The new album pays homage
to the queen of fairies and dreams, a creation of the Anglo-Saxon mythology, probably
with roots in Celtic legends, referred in works by numerous artists, from Shakespeare
or Percy Shelley to Gustave Doré.
In this partially conceptual work, Hexperos once again combine
classical and contemporary approaches to chamber music, incorporating Celtic,
Mediterranean, Medieval and Baroque elements in a meticulously crafted and varied
opus, shaped into perfection over the past 3 years. Its orchestral arrangements
come together to form a rich setting for the haunting soprano of Alessandra Santovito,
highlighted in the dramatic crescendos found in Queen Mab, or on the
majestic Moon Spell and Summatem Deam, with Latin verses from
Apuleius’ (c.125 – c.180) Metamorphoseon (Liber Undecimus).
The darker shades of Hexperos appear in Le Lacrime di Proserpina,
an homage to Alda Merini, or Diadem of the Night (an early Gothica song which
is hereby revisited), both instant classics in the Gothic Neo-Classical genre
with their overwhelmingly blissful melancholy. On the other hand, tracks like
Summoning of the Artists, Time of Spirit, or El Velo Azul,
with dreamy medieval textures and trickling harp, offer a more soothing side to
the album.
On A Reason to Live, voluptuous violin lines and sensual percussions
mix with lulling vocals in a mysterious piece, followed by Nocturne,
a perfectly titled somber epic that would find a comfortable place in a Nyman
or Glass score and which underlines Hexperos’ talent in
taking Gothic Neo-Classical a step closer to cinematographic soundtracks. Finally,
and as they had already done on their previous record, the band pays tribute to
Manuel de Falla’s legacy on Asturiana, which features a
guest appearance by Riccardo Prencipe of Corde Oblique on classical
guitar.
Pressed on gold disc and housed in a matt-varnished Digipak with gold foil print,
“The Veil of Queen Mab” will be released on September
20th and comes with a 16-page booklet beautifully illustrated with visuals by
Polish artist Malgorzata Maj, of Sarachmet Photography & Illustration.

Íon (Ireland)
"Madre, Protégenos" Digipak CD 2006, Equilibrium Music
Named after the Gaelic word for 'pure', Íon seems to illude strict categorization, and even the apparently all-encompassing definition of World Music falls short in defining the ethereal moods that "Madre, Protégenos" comes to reveal.
Duncan Patterson's career traces back to the early 90's, when he began
his musical incursions as a member of Anathema, a group that would pioneer
and remain as forerunners of the unique Doom Metal genre throughout that decade.
Patterson would later also become involved with Antimatter, a project
which would find him developing his long-standing talent for emotional and atmospheric
song-writing into new formats, and which he quit in late 2004 as the early sketches
of what would later grow into Íon were drafted.
One can arguably class Íon as Patterson's most personal creation
to date - a creation which he has fathered on his own, and one through which he
taps deeper into his spiritual identity and heritage. This musical entity which
Patterson has named after the Gaelic word for 'pure' - a word which accurately
pins down the project's mindset - seems to elude strict categorization, and even
the apparently all-encompassing definition of World Music falls short in defining
the ethereal moods that "Madre, Protégenos", Íon's debut album,
comes to reveal.
Though fairly minimalist in its overall approach, the album's true wealth stems
from its various layered soundscapes and the introspective ambiance that they
recreate. These provide the lighter toned and dreamier elements of the album with
an ominous and melancholic shade - much like a sense of hopeful longing for piece
of mind haunted by memories and nostalgia. Having Irish mysticism and an exotic
Mediterranean backdrop as its essential cornerstones, the project has slowly evolved
into an international venture, stretching over continents and oceans. "Madre,
Protégenos" collects a rich array of influences that come to shape into a
unique multi-textured body of work, based around smooth acoustic instrumentation
(where acoustic guitar and various percussions take a leading role, alongside
occasional harp, flute or viola arrangements), discreet keyboard elements, and
remarkable voices.
The patterns that fuse into "Madre, Protégenos" come not only from the
varied instrumentation that musicians from Greece, Ireland, Mexico or Australia
have added to the recordings. The album's unique diversity is equally produced
by several female singers from Italy, Greece and Mexico who contributed to the
album. Their appearances come to add pieces of each of their country's colours
and dialects to the blissful lead interpretation of Russian muse Emily Saaen,
in an eclectic musical quest which feeds not only on each of its characters ethnic
heritage, but especially on their own spiritual recollections and experiences.
A collection of slow motion mysterious ballads, balancing light and shade, salvation and loss, matching Irish landscapes and Mediterranean sunbathed seashores with its haunting Celtic vibes that thrive and build upon tribal rhythmic patterns.
Nordic Ritual Folk. Crafted by weaving ritual elements into traditional folk, Leidungr‘s mesmerizing work is also imbued with an indelible martial aura which reinforces the underlying heroic mood summoned on these recordings.
Nordic Ritual Folk
Nine songs inspired by Nordic traditions and culture, dedicated to lost values.
Nine spells to evoke the old Gods and pay tribute to the warrior spirit of the past.
“De Nio Kraftsångerna” is the long awaited debut album by LEIDUNGR, the latest project by H. Möller (of ARDITI and PUISSANCE), M. Belfagor (of NEFANDUS and OFERMOD) and P. Ståhl.
Crafted by weaving ritual elements into traditional folk, the trinity's mesmerizing work is also imbued with an indelible martial aura which reinforces the underlying heroic mood summoned on these recordings. The potent and evocative combination, which spreads across various genres, often re-creating their common formats, allows LEIDUNGR to carve their unique brand of Nordic Ritual Folk - a term which perfectly defines the genuine atmosphere of this work, now finally available on matt varnished Digipak CD with copper printing, featuring artwork by Freki Wodenswolf, a talented artist known his unique handcrafted creations, made from natural materials as leather, wood, horn, bone and metal.

Les Fragments de la Nuit (France)
"Demain, c'était Hier" Digipak CD 2010, Equilibrium Music
Les Fragments de la Nuit return with their second masterpiece. Lush nocturnal Neo-Classical pieces forming an epic soundtrack that runs from quiet, melancholy-driven moments to stirring, violent passages and eerie moods.
Les Fragments de la Nuit return
with their new album! "Demain, c'était Hier"
perpetuates their timeless musical quest, blending the radiance
of the stars with the dark forces that lurk in the Night.
The French ensemble have kept faithful to their trademark style,
in which pulsing piano chords set the pace for the string-work
woven by the cellist and the three violinists, haunted by female
choirs that surface on occasion. Yet, contrary to its predecessor,
which mostly gathered pieces composed over the years, "Demain,
c'était Hier" was devised as a complete opus,
giving way to longer and more elaborate compositions.
Although challenging in its complexity, "Demain, cétait
Hier" is nevertheless immediately engaging, building
a vibrant soundtrack to a tale of mystery and suspense. The
album holds quiet, melancholy-driven moments - such as those
found on Teletemps or Cyrius B, emphasized by
beautiful violin solos, or the title track's slow motion waltz
- that flow into stirring, violent passages on tracks like Lunistice
or Des Restes Vivaces. Halfway through the record, Allegra
Aeternae offers an epic crescendo, complete with choir,
percussion and French horn, immediately preceding the eerie
Marche Nocturne with its wickedly ceremonial atmosphere.
Such variety is testimony to the band's ability to take Contemporary
/ Neo-Classical music beyond its typical standards, by adding
to this genre other stylistic references, some common to Post-Rock,
Pop or even Metal, and thus bringing together elements that
recall the works of composers like Steve Reich, Philip
Glass or Arvo Pärt with those of formations
such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Balanescu Quartet
or even the sinister cult-band Magma. "Demain,
cétait Hier" discloses a unique musical universe
that takes form in an overpowering nocturnal masterpiece. On
Digipak CD, with illustrations by Aurélien Police.
In the finest Italian Neo-Classical Medieval/Gothic Italian tradition, Lupercalia's second album blends together Eastern and European influences in an alchemical creation produced by top-notch musicianship and a strong soprano voice.
Equilibrium Music is proud to announce the release of the “Nature Seeking Equilibrium” 7", where ORE and TxRxP revisit a pivotal piece in Ordo Equilibrio’s reliquary! Black vinyl in burgundy card stock cover with black foil block printing, lim. 222x.
Equilibrium Music is proud to announce the release of the “Nature Seeking Equilibrium (War 4 the Principle of Balance)” 7", where Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio and Trepaneringsritualen revisit a pivotal piece in Ordo Equilibrio's reliquary. The title of this Ordo Equilibrio classic has always felt perfectly tailored for Equilibrium Music, and we can only return in kind and grant it the equally fitting catalog reference EQM044, as we celebrate the materializing of a long-lasting ambition to cooperate with these key figures of the Post-Industrial / Dark Folk scene.
“Nature Seeking Equilibrium (War 4 the Principle of Balance)” originally appeared in the limited “I4I” picture disc 7" (Cold Meat Industry, 1997). Back then Ordo Equilibrio had not yet perished and given way to Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio, but there was already growing evidence that the Post-Industrial ambiance of their earlier days would branch out into new territories. With the inclusion of “In The Grassy Fields...” on side B, “I4I” was in part a teaser for the 1998 “Conquest, Love & Self Perseverance” album that followed, yet the side A of the single took the martial facet of Ordo Equilibrio to an zenith which has since remained for the most part unmatched.
The track instantly became a defining hymn for the band, and although its only physical incarnation was confined to a rare 7" and never again made available in any other release, the song still holds its place in Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio's live repertoire to this day. Serving often as the closing encore to their shows, it is met with great acclaim from their devoted audiences, who for the most part join the monumental chorus that underscores the doggedly deterministic theme.
Therefore it grew obvious as time went by that the rendition known on stage, and which had evolved naturally alongside the band's sound, needed to be kept for posterity as well. With this purpose in mind, Tomas Pettersson now delivers to the world its refurbished and definitive version, which emboldens the original militant grandiosity with a polished armor while bringing it closer to ORE's current standards.
The obscure entity known as Trepaneringsritualen has also been summoned to take part in this celebratory landmark, and challenged to present the piece in its own vision. Loyal to its trademark Death Industrial style, TxRxP's somewhat primitive interpretation, on the other hand, is drenched in a murky sludge whose stench of exhumed corpses engulfs all hope that any notion of rebirth could perhaps surface from this ordeal.
Over twenty years later, “Nature seeking Equilibrium (War 4 the Principle of Balance)” continues to provide a perfect blueprint for a true Martial Industrial anthem, with the potential to unfold into substantially diverging embodiments such as these while keeping its quintessential character. These two new versions are again exclusively committed to 7" vinyl, thus retaining also the original analogue-only availability. Two different editions exist, each limited to 222 handnumbered copies: black vinyl, coming in burgundy card stock cover with black foil block printing, and red / black coloured vinyl, coming in black card stock cover with red foil block printing. Both versions include an insert with lyrics and the vinyls are housed in black innersleeves. The time has come again to 'See the blaze of wielding swords'!

Debut album by the German/Dutch duo who conquered physical distance through proximity of hearts. On the verge of neo-folk, Poets to their Beloved offers a unique atmosphere built on stringed instruments such as acoustic guitars, cello, violin and bass.
The startling debut by Poets to their Beloved, the German/Dutch duo who conquered physical distance through proximity of hearts, is finally ready for release. Under the title "Embrace the Fool", their first opus gathers thirteen songs, written over the four year period that followed since the duo's first meeting in Ireland. Saskia Dommisse and Marcel Schiborr had travelled there to attend a Brendan Perry workshop, where a singular musical connection between both was forged.
On the verge of neo-folk, the album presents a unique atmosphere built on stringed instruments such as acoustic guitars, cello, violin and bass. Although a romantic tone is found throughout most of the disc, the compositions also often possess a ritualistic essence where male and female voices rise webbed to the pulsating percussions. Singing of love, loss, forlorn tales and old rituals, Saskia and Marcel invite us into the bleak forest of their soul, where an uncharacteric sense of optimism shines through the treetops.
Keeping up with the tradition established at Equilibrium Music, "Embrace the Fool" will be released in a beautifully designed Digipak CD format, including a twelve page booklet containing all the lyrics, band photos and release information.

Carefuly elaborated overwhelming orchestrations brought to Puissance's Industrial structures a disturbing apocalyptic touch, impregnated with somber beauty and bitter, often polemic, spoken-word speeches.

A release which is sure to be fondly welcomed or remembered in any totalitarian heart, and which we are proud to offer on the 25th of April.

"Back In Control" Digipak CD 2007, Equilibrium Music
13.00EUR approx. 18.9USD [ temp. out of stock ] : [ pre-order ]
Puissance's second full-length album, one which has consolidated their status as forerunners in the Industrial/Militaristic scenario, which hereby starts to take on a more Neo-Classical orientation. Deluxe remastered edition with one bonus track.
Following the awe-inspiring debut "Let Us Lead", Puissance would
return a couple of years later to unleash "Back In Control", a cynical
tribute to human evolution and how such evolution inevitably seems to dictate
the end of the World and mankind's own extinction. The impending man-made apocalypse
which Söderlund obsessively narrates is superbly illustrated by epic martial
compositions, to which the pace is set by loud marching drums and Industrial percussion.
A compelling work of art, that would bring Industrial music to a new climax thanks
to the glorious Neo-Classical arrangements that Puissance have
developed for the album.
Originally issued via Cold Meat Industry in a 2000 copies limited edition, this
rare classic is now finally made available again through Equilibrium Music, who
have also recently re-issued the band's debut "Let Us Lead". "Back
In Control" has been re-mastered and enhanced with one bonus track, presented
in a deluxe digipak edition with embossed cover.

Puissance (Sweden)
"Grace of God" Digipak CD 2007, Equilibrium Music
13.00EUR approx. 18.9USD [ temp. out of stock ] : [ pre-order ]
The cogwheels on the Puissance warmachine are back to work, as defiant and innovative as ever. "Grace of God" re-invents the current notion of Martial-Pop, with their own superior combination of sumptuous Neo-Classical and Industrial music.
Three years after "State Collapse", the cogwheels on the Puissance-warmachine
have been fine-tuned and put to work again, in a crushing motion that seems to
be as defiant and innovative as ever. Forerunners in blending post-Industrial
soundscapes with seemingly Wagnerian inspired classical scores, the Swedish duo's
controversial portrayal of human life often tends to raise a mix of conflicting
feelings towards them.
In keeping with such tradition, this return by Puissance serves as a lucid
statement on current world affairs. In Soderlund's own words, ""Grace
of God" is partially meant as a commentary on contemporary events both
social and political. Our goal is to inform yet retain a poetic undertone to frame
our analysis of world politics and objectives. This album focus heavily on the
foreign policy of western civilizations particularly inspired by neoconservatives
and other proponents of economically based genocides in third world countries.
Rather than subscribing to any political agenda, Puissance stands out as
artists against the political and financial motives that have led up to numerous
unresolvable conflicts that are on the verge of plunging us into the third world
war."
Musically, "Grace of God" could well be referred to as a
re-definition of the currently over-abused Martial-Pop term, yet Puissance's own
superior combination of sumptuous Neo-Classical and Industrial elements raises
any potential Pop anthem to an entirely distinct level. More melodic and vocal-oriented
than before, this latest opus also comes to expose a more rhythmic approach that
had been hinted at in previous releases, but which has now morphed into a powerful
and relentless driving force in Söderlund and Möller's compositions.
Compellingly militant as well as beautifully apocalyptic, "Grace of God"
finds Puissance in top form, presenting a fine compendium of all bits and
pieces that the band have been flirting with throughout their career and incorporating
them in a unique style which will again set new standards, as they have been known
to do in previous outputs.
"Grace of God" is available in deluxe Digipak edition, containing
a data track whose contents can be unlocked only via a custom made player made
available here.
Equilibrium Music will also be releasing a re-mastered and re-designed
edition of the band's 1998 album "Back
In Control" at the same time.
Following their overtly confrontational early releases, on their 3rd CD Puissance set to resurrect the ghosts of Cold War and the obsession with all things thermonuclear via a more melodic and refined approach to their Neo-Classical Industrial.
In the year 1999, while mankind sat unnaware of their fate and wondering if the moon would drift away into the far reaches of space as the XXth century came to an end, Puissance would reappear, clad in shining armour.
With the Industrial rust of early days properly polished, the Swedish duo would further explore their talent for graceful arrangements set to Militaristic Neo-Classical music. Following the overtly confrontational offerings of "Let Us Lead" and "Back In Control", Puissance were now set to resurrect the ghosts of Cold War and the obsession with all things thermonuclear that haunted the planet - the Mother of Disease, as they would call it - over that period. Brooding hymns to suicidal heroism, devotional praises to a new god that would finally bring closure to the human race, the screeching of metal twisting and melting - all of this would find its place in Puissance's own beautiful vision of the impending apocalypse, that they so ingeniously depict on "Mother of Disease".
"Mother of Disease" is the third full length album produced by Puissance, and also their third re-issue on Equilibrium Music, following the early "Let Us Lead" and "Back In Control" releases, and last year's new album, "Grace of God". Much like it's predecessors on this fine collection, it has been re-mastered and enhanced with one bonus track, presented in a matte-blue deluxe digipak edition.

The Moon and the Nightspirit (Hungary)
"Regõ Rejtem [ slightly damaged stock at reduced price ]" A5 Digipak CD 2007, Equilibrium Music
An impressive return, which finds the duo tapping further into their Hungarian roots. These last copies of the original first edition have sustained partial damage due to moisture and are now available at a discounted price.
The Moon and the Nightspirit was formed in 2003 by Agnes and Mihaly. It is a mystical journey into the amaranthine realm of dreams and beauty, long-forgotten by modern man. A journey inspired by pagan fables, ancient Hungarian folk music and nature itself.
The band recorded a promotional EP in 2004, which earned them a deal with Equilibrium Music for the release of their first album, "Of Dreams Forgotten and Fables Untold", recorded and released on the following year. This album was very well received and made a name for The Moon and the Nightspirit in the musical scene. They played several festivals/concerts, both in Hungary and abroad, and even at a live TV show on one of Hungarian National television's programmes dedicated to folk/world music.
Recordings for their second album, "Regõ Rejtem", began around mid 2006, again at the band's own studio, Elysion. "Regõ rejtem" is a line from ancient Hungarian minstrel songs, which means "I conjure with magic", or, in words even closer to Shamanism, "révüléssel révülök" ("I am ecstatic in a trance"), a vision that suits perfectly the mood on the duo's songs. This time they have traveled further into times bygone, rekindling the flames of the Taltos (Hungarian shaman) and reawakening the spirits of the Elders. The music has acquired a more varied and colorful tone through the use of varied ethnic instrumentation (such as kaval, tapan, jew's harp or zither), and has also become significantly more energetic and vibrant, without sacrificing the unique ambiance that the band had found on their debut album.
"Regõ Rejtem" also finds the duo leaving behind the English language, and using only Hungarian lyrics this time. They come in the form of poems - chants dedicated to Mother Earth, the spiritual world and the ancient wisdom, and have also served, together with the music, as inspiration for several superb paintings that Agnes has produced to illustrate the album. These three elements (music, lyrics and illustrations) form a strong unity, and only with the existence of these three does "Regõ Rejtem" become a whole.
The album is presented in a DVD-size Digipak, and comes with a full-colour booklet complete with Agnes' paintings and both Hungarian and English versions of the lyrics.

On this new EP Urze de Lume take a more quiet stance to their Dark Folk, in contemplation of the beauty of Fall. Two new instrumental tracks, as well as two preludes narrated by their friends and brothers-in-arms Àrnica. Lim. 300 copies.
Urze de Lume represent a homage to the past.
Inspired by Iberian traditions, their music aims to celebrate the roots which identify a people and bind them to their land.
Founded in 2009, the band has recently become the Portuguese flagship for a new wave of like-minded projects currently spreading across Europe, who have embraced ancient ways and spirituality as both a starting point and a beacon for their incursions into Folk music.
Iberian ethnic instruments such as bagpipes, war drums, horns and various ancient stringed instruments provide the roots that burrow deep into the rich Lusitanian soil to nourish Urze de Lume's powerful and unique sound, whose belligerent tone ignites the audiences at the band's live performances.
"Vozes na Neblina", however, finds Urze de Lume taking a more quiet stance, in contemplation of the beauty of Fall. Its faded colours and a moist morning mist bring forth the memory of a transient moment, when the warmth of the Sun retires to give way to pitchblack night-time.
Just before soft percussion, along with the gentle shimmer of stringed instrumentation or the mesmerizing hum of a distant horn, take hold, Urze de Lume stir the embers of the crackling fireplace which welcomes us back to the comfort of our own inner sanctum. The time has come to cherish Autumn's melancholy farewell, as we recall all other departures that we came to face throughout our lives.
"Vozes na Neblina" brings two new instrumental tracks by Urze de Lume, as well as two preludes narrated by their friends and brothers-in-arms Àrnica.

Second and final chapter of their ode to Autumn. Bonds to both Nature and tradition are at the heart of the band's rendition of Dark Folk, and both skillfully come together on this acoustic introspective incursion into life's ever-looming solitude.
"...The trees have grown dry and bare, as have I..."
On their third album, Urze de Lume turn inwards for a soothing journey which illustrates not only departure, but also homecoming, meticulously setting to music memories imbued with both nostalgia and longing.
Inspired by Iberian traditions, their music aims to celebrate the roots which identify a people and bind them to their land.
"As Árvores Estão Secas e Não Têm Folhas" is the second and final chapter of Urze de Lume's ode to Autumn, in a follow-up to the acclaimed "Vozes Na Neblina" EP released in early 2017.
Although predominantly focused on guitar-based pieces, the leading role in "As Árvores..." is often taken over by the rebec, a bowed stringed instrument whose fiddle-like timbre brings forth an archaic, medieval-like, character to the album's instrumental canvas, which further expands on occasion to include wind instruments, discreet percussions and bagpipes. The intentionally minimalist aesthetics seem to match the beauty of bare trees to perfection, yet Urze de Lume's use of multiple field recordings allows the hues of autumn to embed deeper into the music. Now and then, they turn also to narrated poetry to lead us further into the recesses of remembrance, urging the embrace of loss as one welcomes back nighttime, the cold, and a sense of void for times bygone that the arrival of Autumn inevitably brings about. This is the season where days start to run increasingly shorter and quieter, much like the lives of those to whom Urze de Lume dedicates this solemn work.
Bonds to both Nature and tradition are at the heart of the band's rendition of Dark Folk, and both skillfully come together on this acoustic introspective incursion into life's ever-looming solitude.
"As Árvores..." is appropriately robed in an Autumn-tinged matte-varnished Digipak.

Drawing from a palette of multiple traditional instruments, and borrowing from select field recordings, Urze de Lume have built a unique cinematic piece that transforms Folk and World Music into living memory and lore. Lim. 75x.
Focused on the traditional Portuguese imagery and inspired by the ancestry of primitive Iberian culture, "Ventos da Terra Fria" reignites the soundscapes that illustrate the territory, from its first human vestiges to the near extinct rural world of present times, where shamanism, paganism and the duality between the sacred and the profane have become little more than a time-worn vision.
Drawing from a palette of multiple traditional instruments, and borrowing from select field recordings, Urze de Lume have built a unique cinematic piece that transforms Folk and World Music into living memory and lore. It recreates vistas of mist crawling down mountain slopes as thunderstorms crackle across the horizon, but also scenes of harvest, grazing and celebration, revisiting times and places where man slowly carved his imprint as he himself became part of his surroundings.
